Soldier On - Overcoming Grief By Living Through It - 2nd Edition
by Enid Stronach
ISBN: 978-1-926863-15-3

I offer this story of my own odyssey through grief in the hope that whatever I may have learned may also help others. All of us lose people we love. All of us face a journey through grief that is daunting and, at times, overwhelming. If these words give any encouragement and support to fellow travellers, they will be worth all the effort it has taken me to write them.

Book Signing Event - Hopedale Mall, Oakville May 23 - May 26, 2012

Thousands of books were available for purchase at Hopedale Mall in Oakville on Wednesday, May 23, to Saturday, May 26, at the Oakville Literacy Council’s annual four-day fundraiser. But not all were previously owned. Some were brand spanking new and written by Oakville’s local authors who were on hand to talk about their books and offer personally signed copies – all in support of the volunteer-based organization offering literacy tutoring to adults.

Enid Stronach’s book is an inspiring journal of one person’s quest for survival, then for purpose and meaning while gradually understanding how life has changed forever.  The author demonstrates the grace, the anger and the depression of grief, and thus, inspires those who face similar or lesser fates.  You will be greatly encouraged in your own hurt and sadness by Enid Stronach’s writing.  It took ten years before the words would flow for the author. As a pastor and family therapist, I hope that many will read this heroic story.

Engaging and thought provoking; Enid you have amassed a great deal of insight from all your ordeals, the sound of growth evident in each line. This book should be required reading for anyone going through loss.

Your book was amazing. You did an excellent job at writing it. It is one of the best books on grieving and loss that I have read. You are such an inspiration and amazing person, filled with so much strength. I am so sorry to hear about your double loss and the many more that followed.

I lost my beautiful, precious son at 17 yrs. old on Mar. 31, 2009, to a single vehicle accident. He died instantly. It has been a long, arduous road, adding to it (not helping to ease), the non-support, especially from family members. Upon reading your book, and realizing the great amount of support you received, conversely helps me in learning what support SHOULD feel like and detaching and removing myself from those that only serve to add to my pain. Sad as that is. Strength! Your book brought me a great deal of strength. I am glad to hear that it may be purchased online, as I am surrounded by many who have lost children/spouses, and I am encouraging them to purchase your book. I will endeavour to purchase one and donate it to BFO Halton, so that people can benefit from it also.
